Grey wolf, with lighter grey chin, underbelly and hands/feet. The tips of his ears and the top of his tail are of a dark grey color.

In warmer months her usual outfit is a light pink shirt with white pants and some casual shoes (????), usually brown; or a light purple cropped blouse with a floral pattern, along with a dark (black?) skirt.

Accessories

She particularly fancies sunglasses. Her most valuable possession is a heart locket, housing a photo of her with her husbands. She also wears reading glasses.

Story

Backstory

Born in a loving family as the only child. He was drawn to the sea since young age, and so, with his parents' blessing, he goes on to study and work hard to become a sailor and later a captain.

He makes a lot of friends in (place where he studied) who later become part of his crew, very very close and dear to him.

At the age of 26 Lucifer's parents pass away from a terminal illness. This is a very hard hit to him; he gets through with the help of his friends, though the grief still affects him to this day. He also picks up writing as an outlet, though he doesn't publish his writings, they're meant for him (but he shares it with his friends who really appreciate it).

His career goes well until an incident at 36. During an assignment(??), the team unknowingly ventures into an eldritch part of the sea; it proceeds to swallow all of Lucifer's crew, only leaving him alone alive, stranded in the middle of the ocean with no resources.

He's found several days later, on the brink of death, and rushed to a hospital. After he wakes up, dazed and confused and traumatized, he's met with rounds of interrogation about what happened, attempting to frame him for his crew's disappearance and ruining of the cargo, treating what he tells everyone about "the sea devouring everyone and toying with him" as delusion; however, an independent research team hears about his case and offers to do research, thinking that there is a kernel of truth to his words.

Several days later the research team barely escapes alive, experiencing the exact same thing Lucifer described; he was immediately cleared of suspicion, but the trauma already deepened. Not only that, but journalists caught wind of his story, and pestered him about it endlessly (although they quickly left him alone, being met with a soulless, empty stare and silence whenever he was asked about the incident).

Lucifer officially leaves his job after being released from the hospital and takes the offer of… years… of severance and insurance payouts. He also moves, avoiding the fame of the incident following him.

He proceeds to fall into deep depression, spending 4 years at home, living off of the pay he got.

The survivor's guilt, combined with the trauma of not being believed at first and treated like he's just delusional and lying, and the grief about his parents reopening, the feeling of being a complete failure and failing their faith in him, makes him REALLY depressed. Suicidal. He takes up alcoholism as a "coping mechanism" (intending to eventually die from it). He deeply struggles with feelings of having lost himself completely, too, which makes things worse.

Eventually, he remembers his writing hobby, and decides to try it out again. And it comes out stilted and bad at first but he likes the feeling of it. And he keeps writing. And at some point he sees a local writing contest online and submits his writing, not really thinking it will result in anything at all but wanting to try.

He wins and gets the first place and is invited to receive the prize in person. This prompts him to take care of his appearance for the first time in years, and he comes to get the prize still looking Fucked Up (though nobody really cared), and after he comes back home with the prize he cries. He finally finds something he can partake in and that brings him joy; and so, he becomes a writer.

His first book was published 2 years after hard work (that started immediately after the writing contest), to a moderate success, and he's prompted by his publishing agency to hold a book signing event.

Among one of the few people who come to the event was Fenrir, who had fallen in love with Lucifer's book immediately. They start chatting, and eventually agree to hang out more, as they were both interested in each other.

Their conversations slowly shift from books in general to more general topics, to personal things. They appreciate each other's presence, and grow to genuinely like each other deeply. Fenrir confesses after a year of their friendship, and they start dating <3

After mulling over what happened to him 7 years ago, Lucifer throws a wild suggestion to Fenrir: what if she became a detective, with Fenrir as her assistant (more knowledgeable in law than her)? To her surprise, he agrees. And now we're here

Story relevance

Detective, with Fenrir as his assistant.

  • The thing with Ladon

Looks into Ladon because of his involvement with Proxima Centauri Labs, wanting info from him, and enters the game of cat and mouse with him. Eventually finds him though.

  • The thing with Casus

Casus is a consistent nuisance to Lucifer/Fenrir/now Ladon, though Lucifer catches wind of his involvement with various fucked up shit and starts actually hunting him down.

Post-story

He (and Fenrir) go on to date Ladon, and let him move in with them soon after because his place was pretty. sad. Val joins them a couple weeks later.

Personality

Major personality traits

Soft-spoken and gentle, polite; likes other people's company and is an extravert. He's determined, sometimes even a little stubborn with his goals, has a lot of mental fortitude. Gets into a sarcastic streak when particularly pissed off. Very caring about other people, and strives to help everyone he knows as much as he can.

Creative, somewhat eccentric with her ideas both with writing and detective work, employing … Unorthodox methods and writing techniques. Thinks rather chaotically. Really good pattern recognition and intuition.

Somewhat struggles with emotional closeness to other people, instinctually avoiding it, not wanting what happened a decade ago to repeat; often has depressive episodes and still feels survivor guilt very strongly.

Experiences the normal trauma symptoms like avoiding everything that reminds him of the sea incident (large bodies of water and ships, though he's been getting better with the former); nightmares; being depressed and sometimes just numbly anxious and terrified bc of flashbacks and such.

Overworks herself and struggles with taking her own advice sometimes.

Habits, mannerisms

honestly idk what to put here. closes the fridge with his hips

Relationship to others

  • General society

Lucifer loving humanity and wanting to be of help is one of the most fundamental traits of hers; it's the reason she becomes a detective: she wants to help people with things they may not entrust to law enforcement and don't have power to deal with themselves.

  • Family

Her parents meant the world to her; they were very supportive of everything she did and loved her deeply, so losing them relatively young had a huge impact on her. She still struggles with feeling like she failed them in many ways. (If they could ever talk, though, they would tell her just how proud they are of her.)

  • Close ones

He very. Very. deeply loves his friends and husbands (Fenrir, Val, Ladon). Very caretaking and loving and affectionate, always helping and being there emotionally. Him overworking himself prompts a lot of concern from his husbands who are quick to tell him to Stop and go rest and who take care of him in his episodes.

    • Fenrir

Lucifer really appreciates Fenrir's meticulousness and orderliness, serving as an anchor against her being somewhat disorganized with Everything. His down-to-earth attitude and general grounding aura helps her with calming down too. One of the reasons Lucifer gets better with not feeling crazed about losing people to freak accidents is because Fenrir's life is so routine and peaceful it's hard to imagine ways he could die! And Fenrir's good with reassuring and comforting her whenever the Trauma hits.

    • Ladon

During the thing with Ladon playing with Lucifer and Fenrir, he was initially pretty annoyed at him, especially considering he was their only lead w.r.t. Proxima Centauri Labs incidents. Though his attitude is exactly what made her fall for Ladon LOL… She's very happy once they start dating bc she does genuinely like Ladon a lot!

Both Lucifer and Ladon are extraverts, which means they often go out to social events together. Ladon really helps Lucifer when she's stuck inside her head, helping her focus on the Real World and the Now.

    • Val

Val's and Lucifer's partnership was important to Lucifer, not just because Val is a good info broker but because he likes Val as a person (though he was often concerned for him…)

Val's relative stability helps Lucifer in a similar way Fenrir's does.

Relationship to self

Experiences a lot of shame and guilt about the incident, sometimes falling into a spiral of self-resentment and suicidality. Even as she gets better with the help of Mental Health Professionals and her husbands it's still something that weighs heavy on her. She still works on it and tries to not let it burden her though.

Worldview

He considers others' happiness and wellbeing very important (detailed earlier). Really values other people in general and thinks that community/friendship/his relationship with his husbands basically saved him.

Meta

Motifs

The sea obviously. Hmm plants a little bit…

Trivia

Due to the incident, he experiences what I termed "magic blocking": he's immune/very resistant to magical influence of most kinds, both positive and negative. This means that f.ex. mind control magic and telekinesis do not work on him but neither does healing magic. He considers this both a blessing and a curse (but more like curse, he wishes he was Normal).

Likes coffee! The more milk the better he likes it sweet and mild
